Sarah Stephen-Smith has more than ten years’ professional experience in conducting thematic research into the needs of vulnerable populations including refugees and asylum seekers, victims of torture and trafficked women, developing services for women trafficked into prostitution in the UK (since 2005), conducting general research on trafficking and preparing analyses of law and practice relating to needs of trafficked women. Sarah is the author of a report examining the case for extending refugee protection to victims of trafficking, establishing partnerships with collaborating organisations and building links with women’s organisations, implementing a national programme of awareness raising and gender sensitivity training in gender violence issues and women’s human rights to police, law enforcement officers, service providers and other professionals, and in preparing analyses of laws on gender-based violence from central Europe and Eurasia.
