Sarah Williams is Policy and Campaigns Officer for Jubilee Debt Campaign, co-ordinating the campaign for the cancellation of unpayable and unjust poor country debts. Prior to this she was Campaigns Officer at Anti-Slavery International, the organisation founded in 1839 by the same abolitionists who fought against the Transatlantic Slave Trade, in order to carry on the work against slavery. Sarah’s main role was in leading Anti-Slavery International’s Fight for Freedom 1807-2007 campaign, which calls for measures to address slavery past and present. Sarah also organised the annual Anti-Slavery Award, presented in recognition of grassroots activism in the global struggle against contemporary forms of slavery. She is currently completing a Masters degree in Global Politics, which includes a thesis looking at what mainstream global justice campaigns against poverty in Africa can learn from the Pan African reparations movement.
